This course is for those who have experience with ideas related to Reggio Emilia principles. It provides an intensive study group for educators working with elementary-aged students and older to develop a deeper understanding of the Reggio Emilia approach with an emphasis on the tool of documentation. We will use the Wonder of Learning: The Hundred Languages of Children exhibit as our “textbook” and support each other to translate these ideas to our own practice. How do we make learning visible for older students? How might our students help to document themselves and their peers? How can we deepen and extend learning with our students? Each educator will prepare drafts of documentation and share this with the group and perhaps in a future public display.
What is pedagogical documentation and how can we use documentation as teacher researchers. Explore individual professional goals for using documentation.
Share samples of your documentation. What learning do we see? We will support each other as critical friends to consider the learning story and design so it effectively communicates learning. Tiziana Filippini, Reggio scholar and past director of pedagogy and documentation will be invited to join this conversation.
Always sharing documentation – what changes did you make to the documentation and what were the effects on teaching and learning? How do you use documentation with your students? How might students help to document learning?
Share a learning project and assess your professional goals. Plans for an exhibit to be shared in the spring at the Documentation Studio.
Please Note: Purchase of 1 ticket for the class on October 30th also includes a ticket to the proceeding class dates.
